Sunrise sessions are incredible on the east coast. The sun rises on the water and sometimes, if you’re very lucky, the still water perfectly reflects the skies above. It’s been so cold lately that it’s hard to remember exactly what it’s like to walk outside on a balmy summer morning, to feel relief when warm air hits your skin, and to walk around barefoot in grass. It’s January in Maryland and I’m still doing sunrise sessions, but they’re the kind with hot chocolate, bundled up in scarves and thick socks, and cuddled in the snow. I was thinking of warmer days and wanted to share a session from last summer. I’m still happy to wake up in the dark and drive out for a morning shoot on a freezing cold day, but this one hits the spot for today.
To everyone who gets up and drives out in the dark so we can take pictures together, thank you. Thank you for getting up early so we can make art together and for being awesome people.
