I’m really ecstatic (and admittedly emotional) that I finally get to share this wedding. I’ll just say it. I cried quite a few times while shooting Sarah and Colton’s wedding. I mentioned this when I posted their engagement session, but I’ve known Sarah for over 10 years now and for almost 4 years (hello, high school!) we were inseparable. We made packs together (like “let’s get all A’s this semester!”), we made up choreographed dances to our favorite music, she was my one-woman support group through all of my horrible high school “romances,” and I can honestly thank her and her fantastic family for a part of who I am today. It had been a while since I had gotten to see her or talk to her at all so when she asked me to photograph her wedding, I couldn’t have been happier.
The engagement session was totally a blast from the past and hilarious (Colt and Sarah are ridiculous to hear them going back and forth!), but it wasn’t until her wedding that I really got to see that Sarah was all grown up. She had all new, absolutely amazing group of supportive friends that I was excited to meet and I’m so happy to say that as of last summer, she has brand new branch of amazing family, too.
Sarah and Colton had their wedding at The Clay Center. The wedding took place halfway up a flight of modern spiral staircase lit by warm sunlight with everyone they love and care about looking up at them. There was warm weather, lots of dancing, and I can say from personal knowledge, that they were surrounded by a group of wonderful people who love them very much. Congratulations again to both of you and thank you for letting me a part of your wedding.
