“I hope you like pizza and ice cream,” Mary said as she turned back to gaze at the camera. This quote, this little snippet of perfection, set the stage for Mary and Kyle’s wedding.
The small building in Lambertville NJ Mary chose to get ready in held a beautiful, strange assortment of odds and ends. Vintage paintings on the walls, a collection of crystals and rocks strewn across the living room table. Taxidermy turtles, birds and tiny alligators inhabited the shelves. Everything about it was still and lovely, playful and funny. The first look between Mary and Kyle was in a family friend’s garden and the ceremony was in a yard a few blocks down the street and after, the party moved onto the reception on Gravity Hill Farm.
There were lawn games, homemade pizzas, an ice cream cart, and warm golden light. Folk music was playing on the porch, echoing through the giant sunflower fields and across the farm. At night, some guests lounged on blankets in the grass in the warm summer air while a few rocked slowly as they danced under the tungsten porch lights. This was a wedding of family and back yards, of pizza and ice cream carts, and one of warmth and happiness.
