I wish I was here.
We are often not present as our bodies as we explore the world.
Physically, we’ll be sitting on a train or in our backyard or walking down the street, but mentally, we’re completely removed in those moments. Often we’re reading a book or scrolling mindlessly on our phones. Maybe our thoughts are wondering to what’s next. Maybe we’re replaying scenes over and over in our head that embarrass us or make us happy or make us sad.
In those moments, we are not on trains, backyards, or city streets. We are somewhere else entirely. Minds floating in the abyss.
So often, the places where we actually are, are unseen.
This is a self-no-portrait series about exploring without mindfulness, being outside of your mind and body, and generally, not being present.
