Texas, I will miss you when we move to DC next January. There are tons of things to love, but I have to admit, I’ll really, really miss your sunsets and your wide open fields. Texas lighting is unreal to me, even still; I was raised in West Virginia and when the sun sets, it falls behind tall, forest-covered mountains, which is beautiful, truly, but here, you get an extra 15-20 minutes of this just… surreal sunlight. The skies turns a bright orange color and your shadows become bright blue and then there are a few minutes before sunset where your shadows get so long they stretch across entire fields. There’s something really magical about being 100 feet tall, even if it’s in shadow form.
Puja and Jörg are warm and loving and I’m so glad they made time to come to Austin after a hectic weekend before rushing back home. We started off the session at Austin’s downtown La Condessa and then moved to a field near the airport so they could run off to catch some magical Texas sun light before being whisked back to California a few minutes later. Here are a few favorites from our magical sunset session.
