As an LGBTQ wedding photographer in DC, I get to witness stories that are layered, joyful, and full of personality. This wedding hit all the marks.
The ceremony took place under tall trees, followed by a vibrant reception filled with dancing, laughter, and even a tarot reader offering guests a glimpse into the future. Every part of the day was intentional. And beneath it all: joy, patience, and a long-awaited yes. These are the weddings that remind me why I do this. To honor the stories that matter. To photograph love that’s expansive, electric, and absolutely real.
This wedding was layered and joyful and, forgive the phrasing for this galaxy themed wedding, but two men from the south getting together just made it feel like the stars had aligned. They had their ceremony at a friend’s home in St. Michaels, Maryland, it was soft and joyful and deeply beautiful. After so many years together, their celebration gathered the people who already loved them like family—and who had been quietly hoping for this moment all along.
The day was threaded with love and color. Glitter and a sky blue palette carried the galaxy theme through watercolor portraits, small cosmic details, a tarot card reader who continued to doll out fortunes long after sunset, and a sky that seemed to lean in. There was dancing. Cake. A lot of laughter. And in the middle of it all, two men, in love who made it feel like the universe was finally catching up.
