He’s an architect, she works in fashion.
I travelled down to Dallas on a hot summer day to meet Michelle and Ryan for the first time on their wedding day. I’d heard about their plans; they wanted something that brought their loves together. I knew there would be greenery, I knew it would be beautiful, but… the setting was surreal. A green ceremony at Dallas Arboretum, surrounded by pink flowers in lush gardens. Pools reflected the large, clouded Texas skies back up at them. There was a reception at a museum, the Nasher Sculpture Center, a building with modern architecture and a yard full of yellow, warm lights filling the night air. Soft, exposed lightbulbs that hung down form treetops and as the lights swayed slowly in the heat of the summer night. There was laughing, crying, and so, so much dancing. It was a perfect mix of the things they love, the people they love, and all the beauty summer has to offer up.
And this was how it went.
