When I first went to college, I knew the name of two artists. Truthfully. And the most exciting place I’d visited by myself was a small town in Manitoba, Canada. AND the only museums I can remember ever visiting were 90% children’s science exhibits! So going to college near DC was a bit of culture shock in the best way possible for me. I remember standing and staring at paintings created hundreds of years ago and suddenly being very conscious of history. How time goes on and a few things remain standing.

I love this wedding because one of the first museums I went to was the Portrait Gallery which was the setting of Haley and Robert’s engagement session and their wedding at the DC War Memorial happened to be the first DC monument I touched.

And Haley and Robert’s art museum engagement session was the perfect complement to their DC wedding months later. A ceremony at the DC War Memorial, portraits at the DC Botanic Garden, and a wedding reception at Chez Billy. Red lipstick, giant palm leaves, and a little rain and sunshine. DC weddings at it’s best.
